Water rationing stays despite rains

All of Koror and Airai remain on Water Shortage Warning and Mandatory Water Rationing despite the rains in the last couple days.  The National Emergency Committee continues to place Koror and Airai on Stage 2 watch.

According to the NEC report, heavy rainfall from Mach 24 to 28 had minimal impact on the water reservoir levels in Ngerimel and Ngerikiil.

As of Mach 28, Ngerimel Dam was at 9.3 feet, 40% of its normal level.  Ngerikiil Dam was at 8 feet, 100% of its regular level but together, total production is at 70% which triggers Stage 2 warning under the 2017 NEC Drought Action Plan which calls for mandatory water rationing.

Water hours for Koror and Airai continue with water being turned off from 9pm to 5am daily.  This will continue until further notice by the NEC. (L.N. Reklai/Editor)
