TTM invites you to the agriculture world

Taiwan Technical Mission (TTM) has been dedicated in facilitating the agricultural development of Palau for more than 30 years. The general public is cordially invited to join the monthly meeting at TTM farm (aka Taiwan Farm) in Nekken, Aimelik State. The meeting is held every second Tuesday of the month at 10A.M. by both TTM and the Palau-Taiwan Farmers’ Association(PTFA) to discuss various farming issues. The meetings frequently provide agricultural training courses and demonstration of vegetable dishes. It is also an opportunity for people who share the same interests to exchange information and experiences. [restrict]

TTM has been providing agricultural know-how to the public and especially in the cultivation of taro, vegetables and fruit trees. The demonstration farm is located in Aimeliik for training and educational purposes, showing a wide variety of plants and growing techniques. Every Thursday at the Ernguul Park locally grown products by PTFA members are for sale to the public.

Meanwhile, TTM has been cooperating with Shin Kong Hospital and the Ministry of Education to fight non-communicable diseases (NCDs) by providing fresh vegetables to Meyuns and Koror elementary schools to improve the school lunch diet. Moreover, nine school farms are established over Babeldaob and Koror, giving school students an opportunity to grow vegetables hands-on, so as to gain knowledge of healthy food. The harvest of the school farms will directly supplement the school lunch.

On July 25-27, a Taiwan Culture and Food Festival will be held in PCC in order to raise the awareness of healthy vegetable diets and introduce Taiwanese style of cooking. The festival will start with two days of Taiwanese Gourmet Food Workshop along with Taiwanese cultural videos. The last day will feaure a Cooking Challenge where participating groups (each group with 2-4 people, total 6 groups) compete to present healthy vegetable dishes. The winning team will receive a fruit basket prepared by TTM among other amazing gifts.

All agencies, organizations, education institutions and individuals interested in agriculture and more related information are welcome to contact TTM at 488-6557 or 544-1012. [/restrict]
