Tough competition expected
SUVA – Monday, 18 February 2019. The second round of games in the Ovaltine Suva Business House Futsal Soccer League will get underway tomorrow (Tuesday) at the National Hockey Centre with the next batch of 16 teams participating in their first respective pool matches.
Games coordinator Sidhanth Chand of Bula Events Group says tough competition is expected in the second round of games similar to the first round which saw many upsets for teams which dominated the competitions last year.
“Following the aggressiveness of the games last week, we wish to request all players to follow the rules and display true sportsmanship,” Mr Chand said.
“The expectation from tomorrow’s games is that teams will play more competitive sport and cop less cards. As brand ambassadors of soccer, we hope teams will be out there to promote and create a better and safe networking field,” Mr Chand added.
“Our message to all the teams that will be participating tomorrow is to enjoy the game of soccer whistle leading up to their team and individual development. All the very best to everyone that will be participating.”
Meanwhile, Evergreen International has started the futsal campaign as tournament favourites following their wonderful 5-2 win against Action Fiji last week.
Pacific Customs also started the games on a positive note following their 4-0 win against Ernst and Young.
While the 16 teams from the first round take a break this week, keen futsal followers are expected to witness yet another round of spectacular games from the next eight matches.
