The Micronesian Games 2018 that was held in Yap concluded with a historic win for Palau, whose team comes home with the most number of gold medals this year.
This is the second time that Palau dominated the games while not being the host country since the Micronesian Games began in 1969. The first time that Team Palau brought home the most gold medals was in the first Micronesian Games in 1969 which was hosted by Saipan.
Team Palau had garnered a total of 70 medals, 32 of which are gold, 18 are Silver, and 20 are Bronze. Palau was tailed by the Republic of the Marshall Islands who had earned 29 gold medals out of their 52 medals and Guam came in third also with 29 gold medals out of their 53 medals. (Rhealyn C. Pojas)
