May 9, 2017 (Koror, Palau) Personnel and crew of the Fleet of Friendship from Republic of China (Taiwan) flooded Koror streets, shops and restaurants in the two days the fleet pays its 13th visit to the Republic of Palau. [restrict]
The crew members were also able to visit and tour the Palau International Coral Reef Center and its newly opened wing. Republic of China (Taiwan) contributed $400k to help complete the construction of the building.
In addition to dropping some much needed cash directly into the economy, the crew of the Friendship Fleet showcased its Marine Corps’ special martial arts performance and its Navy Marching Band and color/honor guards drills performances to the Palauan public.
Last night, a public open house and reception was held on Frigate Si-Ning, a La Fayette class patrol ship.
Upon its arrival on Sunday to Malakal port, the Fleet of Friendship, consisting of Flagship Pan-Shi, Frigate Si-Ning and Frigate Chang-Chien, was welcomed by President Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr., and H.E. Ambassador Michael Y. K. Tseng, along with traditional leaders and government officials. A Palauan traditional dance of welcome was performed by Koror dancers in their honor.
The Taiwan Friendship Fleet travels the globe paying goodwill visit to many countries. This goodwill visit marks its 13th visit to Palau. [/restrict]
