Soto’s case still under investigation
Jan, 16, 2017 (Koror, Palau)- Even though Police have not yet made any arrest in the case of a missing Palauan woman, Jaycee Iyar Soto, government prosecutors are already reviewing the case.
“We have not found the missing Jaycee Iyar Soto or her remains yet. We have not arrested anyone yet. The prosecutor is now reviewing the case. This search and investigation continues,” Bureau of Public Safety Ismael Aguon stated in a text message when asked to update the case. [restrict]
Initial investigation revealed that Soto was last seen by Inis Remoket inside the victim’s vehicle between 3:00 and 6:00 am on the morning of September 18.
Soto was reported missing by family members on Oct. 22. Investigators have worked tirelessly to pinpoint her location.
Aguon said the investigation is ongoing and is at a crucial point of resolving thematter while urging the community for cooperation and to call the police for any leads in the case.
“We must wait for the detailed explanation that we believe may become public soon,” Aguon added in his text message.
Aguon said in a press conference last week that when they first got the case there wasn’t a lot of information to go with but through the awareness of the public in the matter crucial information has been pouring in about the case.
He said the police are trying to investigate leads to help them figure out what might have happened and find whatever evidence they can gather along the way to help them solve the case.
On Nov. 30 President Remengesau directed the drug task force headed by Aguon, to aid the police department in the search. A $5,000 reward was also offered to anyone with information that may lead investigators to Iyar’s whereabouts.
