The Shin Kong Wu Ho-Su Memorial Hospital (SKH) in Taipei is working with Palau’s Health Care Fund (HCF) in providing a preventive health checkup package for Palauans.
The team leader of SKH Medical Assistance Program to Palau, Melissa Teyu Lo, told Island Times in an interview that through the preventive health checkup package, which was launched in April, a $500-budget for preventive health checkup is in store for each Palauan who is insured by the HCF once they avail of a house checkup at SKH.
Melissa said that SKH will provide three major checkup packages such as heart checkup, whole body bone density test, and endoscopy for gastric diseases.
Patients from Palau who are referred to SKH for treatment also avail of midnight admission where the hospital provides an ambulance that will pick up a patient at the airport upon arrival and bring them to the hospital which is located just 20-30 minutes away from the airport.
Melissa said that this is helpful since most of the patients from Palau arrived in Taipei at around 10pm. (Rhealyn C. Pojas)
