Last week, a delegation from the Shin Kong Wu Ho-Su Memorial Hospital (SKH) paid an official visit to the Republic of Palau.
The delegation included SKH Chairman Mr. Eugene T. C. Wu, SKH Vice Chairman/Assistant- to-the-Chairman Ms. Olivia Wu, and SKH Executive Director/Board Member Ms. Cynthia Wu. Four (4) doctors specializing in the medical fields of pediatrics, obstetrics & gynecology (OBGYN), orthopedics, and
gastroenterology were also part of the team. In addition to visiting the Belau National Hospital, SKH Chairman Mr. Wu along with the rest of the delegation attended the state funeral that was held in honor of Palau’s Late President Maderngebuked Thomas O. Remengesau, Sr.
The pediatrics & OBGYN doctors will be conducting a clinic survey as well as providing specialty clinics in Palau. There will be four (4) OBGYN clinics and six (6) pediatrics clinics. The SKH delegation met with the Republic of Palau Minister of Health Emais Roberts, MD, FACS and his directors. SKH presented a number of donations during the visit including boxes of bamboo straws (in support of environmental protection); a fetal monitor, some cervical punch biopsy forceps, 2 baby open warmers, 2 breast pumps, 20 baby bibs, 2 saliva towels, 2 baby bathtubs (in support of fertility quality and assist Palau’s pregnant women & babies); and 140 bottles of mosquito repellent (in support of Palau’s current Dengue Fever prevention efforts). The Shin Kong Wu Ho-Su Memorial Hospital is a medical facility in the Republic of China—Taiwan. It offers services in over 40 medical specialty fields. For over ten years, Shin Kong Hospital has been a partner of the Republic of Palau Ministry of Health. SKH continues to provide medical support for the off-island medical referral program, assistance through specialty clinics locally hosted on island, and sending doctors to address the orthopedic cases at the Belau National Hospital.
In addition, SKH has donated numerous medical supplies and equipment to the Belau National Hospital in order to improve the quality of care provided to the people of Palau. Other programs supported by SKH include the Palau School Health Program and the yearly Taiwan Medical Program conducted by a team of SKH specialty doctors.
