Senator Kuartei is Acting Senate President in absence of all Senate officers

September 18, 2017 (Koror, Palau) Senator Dr. Stevenson Kuartei is now the Acting Senate President according to letter of delegating authority to him by Senate Floor Leader Senator Kerai Mariur on September 17, 2017. [restrict]

Floor Leader Senator Kerai Mariur was delegated authority as Acting Senate President in absence of Senate President Hokkons Baules who is reported to be on a personal trip to China accompanying House Speaker Anastacio.  Senator Baules is expected to return on September 20th.

Floor Leader Mariur is accompanying President Remengesau to attend the 72th UN Regular Assembly in New York from September 17 to 26.

Meanwhile Senate Vice President Senator Mark Rudimch is also off island on an official trip.  According to his travel authorization, he will be in Guam for three days to meet with Speaker of Guam Legislature and APPU Executive Group and to meet officers of PCAG regarding construction of new PCAG and then on to Japan to attend 47th General Assembly of Asia Pacific Parliamentary Union (APPU). His itinerary says he will depart on the 17th and returned on the 22nd.

Senator Aric Nakamura is also accompanying Senate Vice President Mark Rudimch to meeting with APPU Group in Guam and on to 47th APPU General Assembly in Japan.

Senator Frank Kyota is in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan which Team Palau for the 5th Asian Indoor Games.

Senator Uduch Sengebau Senior and Senator Rukebai Inabo are slated to depart this 22nd to Solomon Island to attend the Fifth Pacific Women’s Parliamentary Partnership Forum.  The trip is fully funded by Pacific Women’s Parliamentary Partnerships (PWPP) project.

In all, seven Senators will be off island this month, leaving six, Senators Stevenson Kuartei, Camsek Chin, Phillip Reklai, Regis Akitaya, Mason Whipps and John Skebong. [/restrict]
