Before principals and Chairs of the Parent-Teacher Associations of the five high schools: Palau High School, Emmaus-Bethania High School, Palau Mission Academy, Belau Modekngei School, and Mindszenty High School, including Minister Sinton Soalablai and the MOE management team, President Remengesau officially announced Sea Passion Hotel and Chairman Chiu’s sponsorship of a three day all-expense paid trip to be awarded annually to high school valedictorians beginning this 2016-2017 school year. The recipient including up to three members of his/her family, mother, father and siblings, will be awarded a trip to Disneyland in Hong Kong with full coverage of airfare and accommodations – an experience that will provide the family with an opportunity to bond, create lasting memories, as well as strengthen the institution of “telungalek” in line with the Year of the Family.

“This is a perfect example of public-private partnership in education that promotes the importance of education and encourages students to excel beyond achieving a standard diploma. By providing an incentive such as trip to Disneyland, a famous theme park that children the world over dream of visiting, gives our students encouragement to attain the highest academic achievement in high school”, remarked President Remengesau. “Not only will the awarded student be given the opportunity to experience the joy and excitement of Disneyland, the experience will further strengthen the family’s relationship and bond.”

The Presidential Valedictorian Award is anticipated to be awarded annually to valedictorians of the five high schools beginning with this current school year. [/restrict]
