Santa Claus paddled his way to Ernguul Central Park on Friday, December 21st for a special appearance to bring Free Christmas giveaways for children attending the Christmas Night Market on the old OEK Grounds.
At the main stage, Howards, Edward, Balty and Silver provided live band entertainment, including several favorite Christmas songs. The first dance performance included the Ngardmau Men’s Traditional War Dance. This was followed by Contemporary Dance groups, Ohana Dancers and Alii Dancers.
The food gets better at the Night Market every time, with a mix of aromas from local to international foods, fried snacks and more. Side events included a Weaving Demonstration by Matsko Taro and Marina Kyota and Wood Carving Demonstration by Joseph Lee Mad. There was also Glass Bids Demonstration by Sylvia Kloulubak and Face Painting Elsei Tellei.
The Night Markets are a venue for local entrepreneurs to sell and display their products and services, and for local talent to perform in dance or music. The Night Markets will resume again on Friday, February 1st, 2019. If you would like to become a vendor, or have talents that should be showcased, kindly contact Kate or Api at 488-1930/2793. (PR)
