Wallace M.G. Chow, Ambassador of The Republic of China (Taiwan) to Palau, donated $2,000 to Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC) last month.
The donation will go towards the production of PICRC’s 2020 Arts and Tides Calendar. The donation was received gratuitously by PICRC CEO, Dr. Yimnang Golbuu, Director of Administration, Mingrang Kloulechad, Director of Aquarium, Ilebrang U. Olkeriil, Policy/Development Coordinator, Andrea Uchel, and Assistant Communications and Outreach Officer, Ines Kintoki.
ROC (Taiwan) has remained a dedicated supporter of PICRC and the Arts and Tides Calendar. Their contribution to the 2020 Arts and Tides calendar is the largest calendar donation PICRC has received so far this year.
Substantial contributions like this allow PICRC to continue the production of this calendar, which has remained a tradition since the Center opened in 2001.
This year PICRC received over 1,300 entries from students at 16 elementary schools and all five high schools. The calendar provides a chance to showcase the work and talent of young students in Palau, but it also serves as an important educational tool to teach students and the community about conservation efforts, local tides, moon phases, closed and open fishing seasons, and information on regulated marine species.
