The news of convicted killer Amador Osima’s capture on the evening of August 8 brought sighs of relief to the Palauan communities and its success is largely attributed by the authorities to the public’s coordination and the efforts of the cops who had stayed alert 24/7.
Public Safety Director Alloysius Alonz told Island Times that it was the public who had spotted Osima and immediately called their office. The report eventually led to the escapee’s capture. Prior to that, Alonz said that they had received various calls from the public who shared some information that were vital to the operations.
“The public was very excellent, they were very cooperative, and we thank them for the calls and cooperation that they made,” Alonz said.
“I saw the cooperation among the officers…I was amazed at how they react and cooperated from the top down. They really follow orders, the chain of command,” Alonz expressed. (Rhealyn C. Pojas)
