On March 23, the leaders held their first Joint Leadership Meeting for 2017 at Palasia Hotel to catch up on discussion regarding these initiatives, and how the national government, state governments and key agencies such as NDBP, PHA, EQPB and others can forge stronger partnership and collaboration to successfully achieve these goals.

“We share mutual desires to strengthen communication, information sharing and our partnership as we continue to work together to accomplish our goals. The Executive Branch is commitment to work alongside state governments in all initiatives moving forward and we will work to streamline processes and discuss further improvement of regulations if need be,” remarked President Remengesau.

During the meeting, State Governors and Speakers expressed concerns on challenges facing agriculture, aquaculture and housing development loans and discussed with the President and the agencies on addressing those issues through outreach programs and simplifying bank application and permit processes. Some of those issues include EQPB permitting requirements and process, expert assistance for development of plans for operation in agriculture, aquaculture or animal production, and assistance with application process for NDBP.

Representatives from NDBP, PHA, and officials from the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Tourism namely the Bureau of Marine Resources and Bureau of Agriculture were on hand to answer questions and clarify information to help Stat Governments better understand loan application process and requirements, and procedures to access assistance.

President Remengesau further reiterated the national government’s continued commitment to provide assistance and support to State Governments to further economic development from state level to national level.
