President Remengesau Accredits new Austria Ambassador to Palau
On February 22nd, President Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr. accredited H.E. Bita Rasoulian as the fifth Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria to the Republic of Palau.
In accepting Ambassador Rasoulian’s credentials, President Remengesau expressed his commitment to deepen the friendship between Palau and Austria, strengthen cooperation, in particular, the political, economic and social landscape between Palau and Austria. Known for their role in promotion of the use of renewable energy, President Remengesau further expressed hope for both countries to work together to promote the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). The President further called upon the Ambassador for her support in working with the Austrian Government to forge a partnership with Palau in hosting of the “Our Oceans” Conference in 2020.
“Our diplomatic relations, the enduring partnership between our countries is undoubtedly a powerful symbol of how two nations, although far apart geographically, can forge a common purpose and interest towards a shared future,” stated Ambassador Rasoulian during the Presentation of Credentials ceremony held at the Nation Capitol. “We applaud Palau’s vision of a sustainable future, as a leader in nature conservation and environmental sustainability as exemplified by the Palau National Marine Sanctuary, one of the most ambitious ocean conservation initiatives to date.”
Ambassador Rasoulian further expressed commitment to exploit the full potential of Palau and Austria’s bilateral relations in areas of renewable energy, green environment, sustainable development, health and climate change.
The ceremony was witnessed by Paramount Chief Reklai Raphael B. Ngirmang, Vice Speaker Lucio Ngiraiwet, Delegate Mario Gulibert, Senator Frank Kyota and Cabinet Ministers.
