The Palau National Olympic Committee and all respective National Sports Federations members held their 19th Annual General Meeting on Thursday November 15th, at the Palau International Coral Reef Center.
The meeting was attended by all board members of the Palau NOC and representatives from 13 national sports federations in Palau and associate member of Boxing.
Other members at the meeting, included members of the various Commissions of the NOC programs such as the Medical Commission, Athletes Commission and Education Committee. The meeting highlighted activities of the Olympic programs this year, included reports of the Micronesian Games 2018 in Yap, and various activities hosted by the respective National Sports Federations.
The general assembly provided an opportunity for all sports members to present reports and calendar of events for sports in year 2019 and 2020.
The various sports Commissions and specific programs from the National Olympic Committee also made presentations at the meetings. The main agenda also covered the Strategy Plan and Implementation Framework Guide for Palau NOC and all Sports which were adopted at this general assembly meeting. The Strategy Plan with the Implementation Framework Guide is for 2018-2024 for all sports and Olympic programs in Palau.
There are five (5) core functions of the strategy plan set out for sports in Palau which includes promotion of the Olympic Movement and Values, Support of National Sports Federations, Athletes Development, Partnerships, and Governance and Management. Other discussions and reports included the 2019 Pacific Games in Apia Samoa, the 2020 Olympic Games Tokyo, 2019 World Beach Games in San Diego, 2019 Belau National Games, and the 2019 Sports Award Banquet. The Palau National Olympic Committee and all National Sports Federations, also welcomed Ivan Blesam from Koror State, Division of Cultural Affairs for his insights and presentations on the Belau Youth Games and Festival held this year. The Palau NOC and all national sports federations gave recognition to Koror State Government for their partnership in the ongoing programs for sports, especially Belau Games and Youth Games.
The NOC also recognizes all State Government and respective Governors, the National Government and many sponsors, partners of sports for their continued contributions and ongoing support to sports for all throughout Palau. The NOC also congratulate all athletes for their efforts and performance that have continued to improve and to all families and friends of athletes “thank you” for all your commitment and support. The Annual General Meeting of the Palau NOC is held every year in November based on the charter of the Palau NOC.
