Police said the Aluni tribe wanted reparation after two women from Sir Salamo’s tribe were accused of killing a man through sorcery.

They said the chief justice escaped the attack unharmed and had accepted compensation from the Aluni.

The Post Courier reported the attorney general Davis Steven calling the attack despicable.

It said the MP for the district where the attack occurred, Rimbink Pato, had expressed his deepest sympathy to Sir Salamo.

The newspaper the National reported Aluni leader and lawyer Dan Kakaraya describing the incident as not just an attack on the chief justice as a person but on him as an official (adionz.co.nz) [/restrict]
