The Palau National Communications Corporation (PNCC) continues to support this year’s national theme – the “Year of Innovative Learning and Excellence” by hosting three student interns sponsored by the Workforce Innovative Operation Act (WIOA) this summer.
From June 3 to July 12, two students from Palau High School and one student from Mindszenty High School interned at the PNCC Headquarters in Airai.
During the six-week program, the students were assigned to work in three different areas within the corporation to gain firsthand experience on how services are properly prepared and provided to all PNCC customers. While performing duties in switch operations, DTV operations, and office clerical activities, each intern had the chance to observe and participate in the work that helps to make PNCC the preferred choice for telecommunications in Palau.
The student internship programs at PNCC provide a vehicle for introducing students to real-life situations, which cannot be simulated in the classroom. At the same time, PNCC aims to spark interest in the students to return to Palau after their formal education and work at the corporation.
CEO Leo Ben Teriong expressed his appreciation to each student who decided to do their internship at PNCC, and encouraged each of them to press on to finish their education. (PR)
