PCAG raised $63K against remaining cost of $129K for Cultural Center in Guam

Palau Community Association of Guam raised $63,000 dollars at their fundraising last weekend to fund the remaining finishing work on the Palau Cultural Center at Dededo, Guam. This finishing is said to complete the attached structure to the original Cultural Center structure at estimated cost of $129,000.

Fundraising event was held at the Onward Beach Resort’s Le Premier Restaurant in Guam and raised over $63,000.00 according to report from the Office of the President.

The event was attended by Guam’s Palauan community, Palau’s government leaders,  Senator Kelly G. Marsh-Taitano, members of Guam’s private sector.  The event was said to have garnered donations and pledges that will help complete the cultural center now in its final stages of construction.  Auctions of storyboards, Palau made taro Soju, and coolers of fresh fish from Palau received winning bids as high as 500.00 for a story board, $300.00 for a cooler of fish and $100 for a bottle of Soju. All items were sold with winning bidders receiving the items autographed by President Tommy E. Remengesau. Jr.

The total construction cost of the Palau’s Cultural Center in Guam is at $481,161.12, based on the financial report provided by the Palau Community Association of Guam.  This includes original cost of $299,600, plus change order of $51,761.81 plus $129,799 for the finishing work of the second structure.

The main structure of the Cultural Center was officially completed on September 30, 2019 according to report from PCAG with only painting remaining.  PCAG expects the remaining funds to come from Palau earmarked budget of $25,000 plus donation from various Palau clubs in Guam. (L.N. Reklai)
