Thirty participants successfully completed a one day program of Palau Tourism Taskforce and Responsible Tourism Workshop.

The workshops is aimed to over look and review all law enforcement agencies to work together making sure all key players in the tourism sector conduct their business with required policies and laws. This is in order to help the bureau of tourism giving it the task to formulate strategic tourism plans, law enforcement and laws.

The initiative is introduced by President Remengesau in partnership with other stakeholders behind the idea to combat illegal and undesirable business practices.

The participants are from all law enforcement task force. One example of an environment violation is the practice of improper outlet s on sanitations, which is against the health standard. Marine safety regulations are also one requirement that is seriously discussed, including environmental factors affecting the lives of the wild life.

With the increasing number of visitors, the tourism industry is now cautious to be responsible tourism enforcers. The workshop reminded all visitors to exercise best practices not to chase or handle marine life such as turtles, clams, not to stir sediments with fins, do not touch corals, respect culture, no picking flowers or fruits from homes in villages, but to have good experience.  These are few of the examples.

Tourism taskforce committee members shared and document their specific enabling implementation of the work. BOT is developing the Tourism Framework for everyone, and build awareness on Responsible Tourism.

The Tourism Taskforce comes out of the Office of the President.  They are PVA that presented the Pristine Paradise. Palau, Bureau Of Tourism that presented the Responsible Tourism Policy Framework, Palau Conservation Society that presented the Setting the of the scene:  What is Pristine Paradise. Also members of the Tourism Taskforce that made presentations about the issues, success stories and challenges were Koror State Government, Airport Authority, Bureau of Immigration, Bureau of Revenue, Customs & Tax, Division of Marine Law Enforcement, Division of Environmental Health, Bureau of Labor & Human Resources, Division of Fish & Wildlife, Attorney General Office and EQPB.
