Palau Pacific Resort renews commitment to conservation

Koror, Palau –The Palau Pacific Resort (PPR) renewed their commitment to Palau Conservation Society (PCS) by donating $3,000 to support future conservation champions of Palau on February 26, 2019.

On hand to receive the donation from PPR’s Assistant General Manager, Ms. Lucy Sugiyama, was Ms. Bola Majekobaje, PCS Executive Director.

PPR is a long time supporter and partner of PCS. For 21 years, PPR has supported on-the-ground conservation work throughout Palau through their annual contribution as PCS’ Corporate Partner for Conservation (CPC). PPR has taken steps further by making environmental conservation a daily business activity. They have a clearly marked conservation area just off the resort’s beach where guests can see all kinds of corals, fish, and cultured local clams.  They also manage their own water system and employ solar panels that harness Palau’s seemingly endless sunshine; thereby, reducing their dependence on public water and electric systems. Their Green Care Committee continues to make programs and activities in relation to environmental protection above and below water that is both educational and fun for guests and employees alike.

Since its founding in 1994, PCS has made meaningful impact in communities with the support of friends, partners and members. This year, PCS celebrates its 25th anniversary as Palau’s first local conservation non-profit and looks to partners, members and CPCs to continue to support vital conservation projects and to inspire young people across Palau to take action in protecting their natural resources.  This commitment ensures a pristine Palau for locals and visitors to experience and enjoy for many years to come.
