The summit attendees included not only the national government,  the public and private sector but also International technical advisors such as the International Renewable Energy Agency, the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the United States Department of Energy, Earthjustice, Okeanas  and Earthx put their heads together to come up with a framework to fulfill the country’s target of  45 percent  renewable and energy efficiency by 2025.

The action plan also listed Palau’s huge potential for renewables including solar and wind.

The plan will also tap international donor and partners to help finance investments in electricity generation from renewable sources and enable the integration of renewables into the grid.

The action plan stated that achieving 45 percent renewable energy target would reduce annual carbon emissions from 53,000 to 39,200 tonnes a year.

The action plan also estimates that investments costs are projected to be at $70 million.

President Tommy Remengesau Jr. stated the action plan has shown that all attendees” have one vision, one target and set of strategy that will help us to get there.”

He said that it might have been challenging but the action plan to guide the target goal is “promising.” [/restrict]
