Out of the seven students, two are from the Republic of Palau, another two are from the Republic of the Marshall Islands and three are from the Federated States of Micronesia.
Two of these international students, who shared their ambitions of continuing their studies at the university, are transfer students who will resume their education as third year students in April.
Meanwhile, six of the students are on a short term exchange program in partnership with schools who have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of the Ryukyus while one is a candidate student.
Aside from studying their specialized research fields, they will also take Japanese class.
The University of the Ryukyus is supporting the admission of graduates from Palau, Marshall Islands and the Federated States of Micronesia — countries that have close historical and cultural relations to Okinawa which do not have a four-year university. (PR) [/restrict]
