Oilouch holds bilateral meetings in Apia, Samoa
Apia, Samoa-Vice President Raynold Oilouch, who represented Palau in the Pacific Islands Forum here also held bilateral talks with several nations.
Oilouch met with representative of Germany, Taiwan, Canada, United States, Cuba, Republic of the Marshall Islands and Japan as side events of his attendance of the 48th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders’ Meeting. [restrict]
In his meeting with Germany, the government he said is supporting development projects in relation with Palau’s climate change policy and help Pacific Island countries get access into the European Union Climate Fund.
In his meeting with the Republic of China (Taiwan), Oilouch said Palau discussed and requested ROC to consider providing additional funding to the Smaller Island States and other assistance to the forum.
On a bilateral one, Oilouch said that there were informed that there will be in an increase of one commercial flight by China Airlines to accommodate increase in tourist demand and medical referrals.
In his meeting with Canada, Oilouch said that talks focused on the possibility of working together on Fish Biomass in the Reef and throughout the Sanctuary and assistance in the development of domestic fisheries in Palau.
In the meeting with Cuba, the nation continues to offer medical scholarship opportunities to Palauans. (B. Carreon) [/restrict]
