Vice President and Justice Minister Raynold Oilouch came to the defense of the police amid complaints from the community that several motorists continue to drive vehicles with expired registration.

Oilouch told the press during a press conference on August 15 that he understands that there might still be people who are driving unregistered cars but this does not imply that the police are not doing their jobs. In fact, Oilouch said that if one would visit the court, there are several people who had been issued citations for driving unregistered vehicles.

“[Police] are doing their job. They are enforcing that law,” Oilouch said.

Island Times received a call from a source who requested anonymity that there are currently around 200 cars with expired registration that freely ply the roads of Palau in the last three years.

The source claimed that even government cars themselves that had expired registration could be seen plying the roads.  (By Rhealyn C. Pojas)
