Obstacle playground built to promote active lifestyle among kids

The Rotary Club of Palau who was working with Civic Action Team (CAT) officially presented a new elementary school obstacle playground to Ms. Lorenza Olkeriil, Principal of Maris Stella School on Wednesday, January 9.

The new playground features monkey bars, swivel swings, a balance beam and a tire racing track. It is highlighted by a climbing platform featuring three climbing walls (a net, tires and blocks) and a first-time in Palau rolling slide that the children have already turned into a fourth climbing platform.

Besides entertainment, a primary function of these playground pieces is to encourage the children to be more active as they are playing with them.

The Rotary Club is also planning to work with more Palau grade schools to provide a more active lifestyle to our increasingly sedentary children. (PR)
