New ROC Ambassador meets President Remengesau
The Republic of China’s (Taiwan) new Ambassador to Palau, Michael Y.K Tseng, today presented his credentials to President Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr. and members of his cabinet during a brief ceremony at the nation’s capitol.[restrict]
During his presentation, Mr. Tseng reaffirmed his country’s full commitment and dedication to ensure that the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Republic of Palau will continue working together to strengthen ties and achieve mutually acceptable outcomes. The Ambassador also announced a $1 million donation from Taiwan to the Marine Sanctuary Trust Fund, explaining that the ROC shared the same vision of ocean sustainability with Palau.
President Remengesau expressed his gratitude and warm welcome to Ambassador Tseng and added he is looking forward to working with him, exchanging knowledge and support and building a stronger relationship between Taiwan and the Republic of Palau.
H.E. Michael Y.K. Tseng holds a Bachelor’s Degree in the Political Science Department from National Taiwan University and a Master’s Degree for East Asian Studies from National Cheng-chi University. It was in 1986 that he joined the foreign service of Taiwan and has worked his way up since.
Tseng has served as a Desk Officer in the Department of North American Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA); a 3rd & 2nd Secretary in Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Boston, USA; 2nd Secretary in the Embassy of the Republic of China in Grenada, Eastern Caribbean; Section Chief in the Department of Information & Cultural Affairs under MOFA; Chief in the Division of Research & Development (Research & Planning Committee) under MOFA; a Director in the Political Division of Taipei Representative Office in Singapore; an Executive Secretary in the Research & Planning Committee under MOFA; a Deputy Representative in Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Thailand; a Director General in Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Vancouver; and a Deputy Chief Negotiator at the Office of Trade Negotiations under the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
Prior to his current occupation as an Ambassador, he served as a Director-General in the Department of International Cooperation and Economic Affairs under MOFA since October 2015. [/restrict]
