October 13, 2017 (Koror, Palau) National Emergency Committee (NEC) and National Emergency Management Office (NEMO) issued a statement informing the public that the chances of drought occurring has been reduced to 40% from last prediction of 50%. [restrict]

Reduced chance of drought is due to slight cooling of sea surface temperatures compared to temperatures of June, July and August.

The statement also urges public to continue to practice conservation measures, minimizing water uses and repairing water leaks.

Additionally, a statement from NEMO released yesterday says there are no warnings or typhoon watches for Palau but heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected for the week and warn people to watch out for mudslides or flooding while driving.

They also issued notice of possible hazardous sea conditions due to swells and winds. [/restrict]
