MOH signs TGA MOU with the government of Australia

On Wednesday, October 03, 2018, Australia Ambassador to the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), the Repubic of the Marshall Islands & the Republic of Palau His Excellency George Fraser and the Republic of Palau Minister of Health Emais Roberts, MD, FACS, signed the Therapeutic Good Administration Memorandum of Understanding (TGA MOU). The TGA MOU Signing took place at the Ministry of Health in Koror, Palau.

Under the MOU, the Government of Australia will cooperate with the Government of Palau in the testing of therapeutic goods that include antibiotics, medicines treating diabetes, cardiovascular medicines and others. The Australian Government is piloting a program that will give Pacific Island Countries access to Australian medicines quality assurance testing services. This testing is conducted by Australia’s regulator of medicines and medical devices – the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). Access to laboratory testing for the Government of Palau will focus on those medications that treat non communicable diseases. (Embassy of Australia in Pohnpei/PR)
