MOH holds World Diabetes Day Fair

The Ministry of Health (MOH) organized a health fair on Wednesday, November 14, at the Palau Community College (PCC) Cafeteria as part of the observation of the World Diabetes Day.

The World Diabetes Day Fair featured booths promoting topics about diabetes screening, education, awareness, and prevention.

A yoga session was also conducted which was participated by guests.

According to the MOH, diabetes is a disease that affects a great percentage of Palau’s population. It impairs the body’s ability to produce or respond to insulin that results in high levels of glucose in the blood and urine.

The MOH had expressed its gratitude to the partners namely the 10th Olbiil Era Kelulau (10th OEK) Senator J. Uduch Sengebau-Senior, the Koror State Government (KSG) Urban Growers Program, Omkar Yoga Palau, Palau Red Cross Society, the Coalition for a Tobacco Free Palau, Ulkerreuil A Klengar (UAK), Omellemel Ma Ulekerreuil a Bedenged (OMUB), the Palau Parents-Teachers Association, the Show Chwan Memorial Hospital in the Republic of China—Taiwan, the Taiwan Technical Mission in Palau, MOH Prevention Unit, MOH Physical Therapy Team, MOH Geriatrics Team, MOH Family Health Unit, the MOH Bureau of Health Administration and Support Services (BHASS), the Community Health Centers (CHCs), and the MOH Health Promotion Team for their contributions in making the event a success.

The MOH has also recognized the Palau Community College for providing the venue and Mr. Rondy “Rondizzle” Ronny for being the event’s master of the ceremony. (PR)
