President Tommy Remengesau, Jr. issued a proclamation to congratulate the Mechesil Belau on their 25th anniversary celebration which is slated to happen starting today, September 18.
The presidential proclamation, which was signed on September 14, acknowledges the contributions of the women’s group in fostering education and preserving Palauan culture, heritage, and identity.
“For 25 years, the Mechesil Belau Conference has brought together our nation’s women and female leaders in an annual conference, which continues to be one of our nation’s most important platforms for discussing issues central to our traditions, culture, and heritage,” the proclamation reads.
Remengesau, through the proclamation, also acknowledges the role of the Mechesil Belau in the enactment of laws and policies in the country.
“The efforts of the Mechesil Belau continue to instill in our youth and community the core values that give us our unique identity as Palauans – efforts that are critical in an age where modernization threatens to wear away our very way of life,” it expresses. (Rhealyn C. Pojas)
