MASHAV–Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation Extends Training Program to Palau
MASHAV, Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation is extending several professional development training courses to Palau in the areas of education, health, renewable energy, and food security. [restrict]
During his courtesy visit with President Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr. on March 28 in Ngerulmud, Israel Ambassador to Palau Tibor Shalev Schlosser announced the arrival of Ms. Evelyn Ngirturong of the Family Health Unit of the Ministry of Health who is attending the course on “Development of Children: Social Emotional Support and Wellbeing” at the University of Haifa in Israel from March 26-April 7, 2017.
Based on the “train the trainers” approach, the course includes introductory lectures, professional study visits, observations, workshops and discussions aimed at exposing participants to services and organizations in Israel that supports children and their families – aimed at building the capacity of service providers.
In addition to the course Ms. Ngirturong is participating in, the Ministry of State is working closely with Israel on several other courses offered to Palau, including “Renewable Energy as a Catalyst for Regional Development”, “Education Towards Sustainable Development”, Professional Development for In-Service Teachers”, Political and Economic Aspects of Women’s Empowerment”, “Food Security & Grain Storage Technologies and Management” and Startup Accelerators in the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem”.
The offered courses are self-financed; however in efforts to increase participation from Palau, Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has offered funding assistance for two accepted applicants for courses that are of priority.
President Remengesau welcomed Israel’s support and assistance highlighting the importance of training and capacity building of Palau’s human resources in contributing to the overall development of Palau moving forward. [/restrict]
