Korea Energy Agency to conduct site visit in Peleliu

Officials of the Korea Energy Agency (KEA), a Korea-based organization that promotes efficient and rational energy use, will arrive in Palau on July 23 to conduct a site visit in Peleliu State.

KEA, together with personnel from the Palau Energy Administration (PEA), will be scouting data for a feasibility study that will help Palau determine renewable energy options for the state of Peleliu.

PEA Energy Specialist Gerald Tulop told Island Times in an interview on Wednesday that the outcome of the feasibility study could lead Palau to acquire a solar mini-grid system for Peleliu State.

According to Tulop, this initiative is part of the assistance of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) to Palau.

“I’m very optimistic that we will get the support [from KEA],” Tulop said, expressing further that he hopes that this effort will complement with the existing renewable energy system in Peleliu. (Rhealyn C. Pojas)
