 Kayangel Early Warning System Project okayed

The Palau Red Cross Society was awarded $20,000 through the Palau GEF Small Grants Programme of the UNDP.

The project, which is in partnership with Kayangel State Government, National Emergency Management Office (NEMO) and Palau National Weather Service, is aimed at establishing the Early Warning System project in Kayangel to improve community preparedness and response to disasters.

It also aims to develop and test a community-based Early Warning System.

The Memorandum of Understanding for the project was signed by PRCS Executive Director J. Maireng Sengebau as witnessed by Kayangel State Governor Midas Ngiracheluolu, PRCS Board Member Richard Ngiraked, NEMO Disaster Response Officer Singeo Franz and National Coordinator, and Palau GEF Small Grants Programme, Kiblas Soaladaob.(PR)
