The Palau-Japan Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) is holding a seminar today, November 12, at the Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr. building to discuss the implementation of Japan’s initiatives to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The JCM is an initiative by the Japan government to collaborate with other countries in mitigating greenhouse gas emissions.

Under the JCM model, five projects have been implemented in Palau such as the Ben Franklin Solar project, SDA Solar project, Emmaus High School Solar project, Surangel Department Store Solar project, and the West Central Warehouse Solar project.

Japan has already partnered with 17 countries as of October 2019 and have forged agreement with Palau on this initiative on January 13, 2014. (Rhealyn C. Pojas)
