The car they were riding came from a job site in Melekeok and was heading to Koror when it went off road and crashed. The deceased was seated on the front passenger seat.
It was the Melekeok Police Substation officers that first responded to scene.
According to Alonz, Bergonio was still breathing and was complaining of chest pain when he was brought by the responders to the Belau National Hospital where he was later declared dead after attempts to revive him.
The driver, who was also a Filipino, and the other passengers all sustained injuries from the accident.
