Four new drug cases were forwarded to Attorney General for prosecution adding on to 51 forwarded to AG at the end of November 2016 this according to Director of Narcotics Enforcement Agency (NEA)  [restrict] Ismael Aguon who recently was rehired to head the newly created Division under the Ministry of Justice.

The drug enforcement work has continued after the closure of the Drug Enforcement Taskforce and transition to NEA added Aguon. The number of cases being investigated since last reported in November increased by 11.

Thirteen drug cases are still pending trial and 42 have been adjudicated.

“Due to increased number of cases under trial, we have been spending more time in court and therefore we have less cases filed but this will be rectified as soon as we organize the new agency,” stated Aguon.

The new Narcotics Enforcement Agency merged Narcotics Division with the BEDTF and the structuring of this new division being done by the Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Justice. [/restrict]
