The Director of Bureau of Lands and Surveys has been appointed by the President to the National Housing Commission to come up with national housing policy for the country.
President Remengesau, in his address to Director Sterlina Gabriel said,”I encourage you to review, and utilize at your discretion, the work of the Republic of Palau Housing Development and Financing Program Committee.”
Gabriel will be working under the leadership of Minister of Community and Cultural Affairs and is also responsible for the administration of loan agreements in regards to affordable home loans, housing infrastructure and subdivision development which is currently being negotiated by the Ministry of finance.
“I encourage you and your colleagues on the commission to organize yourselves and begin reviewing the issues, challenges and opportunities affecting housing in our Republic,” Remengesau said.
He further stated that this will better prepare Gabriel and her colleagues to hit the ground once the negotiations are completed.
“Our people are ready to see real progress on these issues,” Remengesau added.
He also extended support throughout the government and assured that any further support needed for the work will be provided. (By Eshan Kalyanikar)
