April 8, 2017 (Washington D.C.) The bill to approve agreement and appendices signed by the United States and Republic of Palau on September 3, 2010 in connection to the Compact of Free Association was introduced in the House of Representatives on April 8, 2010 by Representative Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan of CNMI. The bill authorizes appropriations to subsidize postal services to Palau, RMI and FMS for FY 2018 to FY 2024 and carry out specified federal responsibilities under the Compact.

It also contains provision which states that if Palau withdraws more than $9 million from the trust fund set up by the Compact in 2018, that amount will be withheld from Palau until it reimburses the total amount that exceeded $9 million in FY 2018.

The bill also repeals the off-set requirements and provides additional economic assistance for FY2018-2024 and funding for infrastructure projects for FY 2018.

The bill was ordered to be reported by unanimous consent on April 27, 2017. [/restrict]
