CNMI delegate wants stop to sabre rattling

The most recent war of words between the US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has prompted a lawmaker from the CNMI to call for more dialogue between the two countries. [restrict]

The CNMI’s delegate to the US Congress Gregorio Kilili Sablan said although the US was militarily more powerful, nothing good would emerge if war erupts with North Korea.

Mr Trump tweeted that, like Mr Kim, he also had a nuclear button at his desk, but that it was bigger, more powerful, and that it worked.

The North Korean leader had earlier vowed that North Korea would continue to build up its self-defence capabilities including for a pre-emptive strike as long as the US threatens its existence.

Mr Sablan said more dialogue was needed and not tweets from President Trump, or threats from Kim Jong Un, especially since the entire world already knows of America’s military dominance. [/restrict]
