Chamber to host Digital Tourism Workshop

(Koror, Palau) Palau Chamber of Commerce partnering with Pacific Trade Invest (PTI) Austrlai and Trip Advisor will be conducting a Digital Tourism Workshop to local tour operators on Tuesday, April 25th, 2017.

The workshop will focus on the importance of online marketing and use of social media in the tourism industry. [restrict]

Tourism sector is the fastest growing industry in Palau having experienced rapid growth in the last five years.

In addition, submarine fiber optic cable connecting Palau to the rest of the world is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

The way international tourists make travel decisions is changing. An increasing amount of tourists use the internet as their main source of information. Deciding what to do and where to stay using their phone, tablet or computer with referral sites such as Trip Advisor playing an important role in the decision making process.

“The future of the travel and tourism industry is online – and regardless of where they are in the world, businesses in the sector need to have an online presence to succeed,” said General Manager Investment & Tourism, PTI Australia, Chad Morris.

PTI Australia Digital Tourism workshop will cover the following topics to help Palau tourism operators enhance their digital presence; Understanding the accommodation buying cycle, Leveraging your website to drive more direct sales, Instant booking capability, Online third party distribution, Social Marketing and Outsourcing.

The workshop will be conducted on Tuesday, April 25th from 9am to 1pm at PICRC Kedarm Conference Room.
