Bones previously found now under FBI custody

  02 Nov 2018

A Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent that visited Palau last week brought the set of bones that was previously found by a fisherman in the ocean waters near Ngesaol to the United States for examination.

Vice President and Minister of Justice (MOJ) Raynold Oilouch said that MOJ is expecting to receive the official results of the bone examination from the FBI in a month or two.

Speculations that the said set of bones that was found on September 11 belonged to that of a human had been raised especially after the person who discovered it described that it looked like a human skull.

In our previous report, authorities, through their initial findings, believed that the bones belonged to a human being. Over 65% of the bones including a skull was retrieved. Aside from that, two types of ropes and a fabric believed to be from a piece of clothing were also found with the bones.

Oilouch, however, said that the MOJ will wait for the official findings before coming up with any conclusions.

Four unresolved cases of missing persons had been reported previously, one included a young woman named Ochob Jacee Soto Iyar who was reported to have suddenly vanished without a trace on September 18, 2016. (Rhealyn C. Pojas)
