The Basic Conversational Mandarin Course held its first class on November 13, 2018, and was packed with hotel and restaurant staff.
The 37 attendees were more than anticipated, and were beaming with sheer enthusiasm to learn useful Mandarin vocabularies, phrases, and one of the difficult parts of learning Mandarin…tones!
Despite being classified as the hardest language to learn, throughout the one-hour class, the voices of these participants filled the room from the moment class began. Ms. Susan Cai began the course with key introduction words and greeting phrases such as, “Good morning!”.
Student and teacher interactions were non-stop from start to finish on the first day of Basic Conversational Mandarin (specifically for hotel/restaurant staff). However, classes will end on November 15, 2018 and each participant who participated for the three-day course will receive a certificate.
With the generous help of the Taiwan Embassy, Palau Community College, and Palau Visitors Authority, the first day of Basic Conversational Mandarin was a grand success. (PR)
