Appointment of new PIO delayed by a week

The appointment of a Public Information Officer (PIO) has been delayed by a week and is now scheduled to join by coming Monday.

The Chief of Staff of the Vice President indicated the appointment of Hosei Ise who previously worked as Director of State Cultural Affairs at Koror State Government (KSG) as a new PIO.

He has also served as a Director for Conservation and Law Enforcement for about 12 years in the past.

The office of the PIO is inside the Ministry of Justice and has been vacant since the former PIO Keiden Kintol resigned on May 23. However, Earnest Ongiodobel who is a Chief of Staff of the Vice President has been currently acting as the PIO.

There has been a delay in routine work done by the PIO as Ongiodobel is currently managing two positions.

The responsibility of the PIO includes communication with the general public and by extension the media to guarantee transparency.

It is for this very reason that Ongiodobel approached Ise for the position and is expecting him to join by Monday to carry out these duties. (By Eshan Kalyanikar)
