ANZ launches cashless taxi payments in Fiji

SUVA, 23 MAY 2019 (ANZ) — In a first for Fiji, ANZ today announced a partnership with Ever Ready Taxis to install ANZ EFTPOS terminals in their fleet of taxis across Suva.

Customers will soon be able to use their local and international debit and credit cards to pay their taxi fare in any Ever Ready Taxi.

ANZ Fiji Country Head, Saud Minam, said: “Technology and mobile are driving change and innovation across all industries. Customers expect everything to be fast and secure– including something as simple as paying for a taxi.”

Speaking at a launch event in Suva, Hon Minister for the Economy, Civil Service and Communications, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, said the Government was pleased to support this initiative by contributing half the cost of installation of the EFTPOS terminals, in a bid to encourage more small businesses to go cashless.

He hoped other taxi companies would allow customers to make card payments in future.

Minam said: “There is no minimum amount to use EFTPOS to pay for a taxi, so we are helping drive the digital economy.” (PACNEWS)
