The Aimeliik Club of Guam (ACOG) hosted the Join the Fight Alliance of Guam Cancer Care & Todu Guam Foundation’s Medical Outreach event held on August 19, 2017 at the Asahi Abai Community Center in Dededo. Services that were provided were Immunizations, School Physicals, Glucose Screening, Vision Screening and Cancer Risk Assessments. The following vendors were also on site to provide information and services on their respective programs, LabTech, Mariana’s Lions Club, Shriner’s Children Hospital, Salvation Army, Aflac, St. Dominic’s Volunteer Association, Guam Breast and Cervical Early Detection Program. The event was open to the public and free of charge; however it was on a first come first serve; while supplies last basis. It was a successful event with 450 participants registered, unfortunately the volunteer physicians and nurses were not able to accommodate all who registered and participants who were not seen this day were rescheduled for the following day at the Simon Sanchez High School outreach event.

This event is the second event hosted by the Aimeliik Club of Guam, in August of 2016 ACOG hosted Guam Cancer Care’s Town Hall event held specifically for the Palauan Community of Guam. During the Town Hall, Oncology providers; Dr. Samuel Friedman (Medical Oncologist/Hematologist) and Dr. Kin Sing Au (Radiation Oncologist) presented on prevention measures for the most common cancer diagnosed in our region e.g. Cervical Cancer, Head and Neck Cancers, Prostate Cancer. Presenters also held a Q &A after each presentation. The ACOG looks forward to their continued partnership with Guam Cancer Care and the Todu Guam Foundation in providing these vital services not only to our fellow community, but to all who identify Guam as their home as well.
